Day 4 Monday March 28th - Dingle Penninsula

Woke early and had a great talk with Chelle. Had a yummy pouched egg and toast breakfast with Hot Chocolate. We got ready for the day and the 4 siblings had a good POW WOW before the start of our week and day! Needed to get on the same page.

Michelle and Mom went shopping in Killarney. Visited the park and Cathedral and had fun shopping. The rest of us went for a bike ride in the National Park and stopped by the Ross Castle. Beautiful Day once again!!!

We all packed up and drove to the Dingle Penninsula (Ring of Dingle), one of the Top things to do in Ireland.

The Dingle Peninsula - 6,000 Years of History

There is no other landscape in western Europe with the density and variety of archaeological monuments as the Dingle Peninsula. This mountainous finger of land which juts into the Atlantic Ocean has supported various tribes and populations for almost 6,000 years. Because of the peninsula's remote location, and lack of specialised agriculture, there is a remarkable preservation of over 2,000 monuments.

It is impossible to visit the Dingle Peninsula and not be impressed by its archaeological heritage. When one combines each site's folklore and mythology, which have been passed orally from generation to generation through the Irish language, one can begin to understand how unique and complex is the history of this peninsula.

This was probably my most favorite drive of this trip. We had a perfect sunny day. It was mostly a coastal drive. Absolutely breathtaking. We stopped a long the way to take photos. The beaches are beautiful and there was a great swell coming in. The breaks were long and pristine. People were out surfing. We stopped and took pictures on the cliff. Enjoyed the best real estate in Ireland. The sheep were located in stony pastures right on the cliffs, right on the coast.

We drove into the town of Dingle. A super cute coastal town. The colors on all the houses were our favorite part, super small streets. Mom found her cute dream home, on the coast painted RED with White trim. Cute fishing village. I loved the photos so colorful and vibrant. Some of my favorite photos came from this days trip.

We ate at a pub. I happened to see a POWERS drink mirror and took a photo for dad. The food wasn't that great. Had a good time with Dave's FAT APP lots of laughs. I got the Lemon Herb Cod and Fries with Lemonade (does not taste like our lemonade back home). Drew had the pork and loved it. We than walked through the cute town to an old Cathedral. Stacey saw the coolest store (Mad Hatter's Dingle) . . . We than started walking back and it started to Rain. Our FIRST rain.

We drove back to Killarney and stopped to watch the waves and to collect sea shells on the Ireland Coast. One of mom's favorite things to do. We could not believe how many beautiful shells there were. The evening sky was gorgeous and I must say so myself, my brother Dave is quite the photographer. Again it isn't the camera, its the photographer . . . .(well it helps having a nikon d90!!!)
Mom, Chelle and I relaxed in the cute parlor. Our hostess brought us Soda and made me a big bowl of popcorn. I was craving popcorn. So nice. The others met us about a quarter to 9 pm and we all walked downtown. Michelle and mom had a surprise for us. We walked into an Irish Pub and we found seats and listened to some Authentic Irish Music. Than we walked down to this restaurant that was advertising Pizza. YUM we were all craving pizza! Great restaurant one of our favorites.

We ordered the Bruchetta (fresh tomatoes) The best so good and than mom, michelle and I ordered the Tomatoe, Basil, Mozerella Pizza. WOW. Definitely the best pizza, besides NYC pizza I have ever had. Afterwards we order the yummy desert Mint/Chocolate ice cream bowl with cookies.

We walked back home and called the kids via SKYPE. Being away to rejuvinate and reflect I appreciate them so much more.
